How to install Terminal Services Role in windows 2008

Terminal Services in windows 2008 has been redesigned with lots of new features. Some of them are –

1. Terminal Services Remote App
2. Terminal Services Web Access
3. Terminal services Session Broker
4. Terminal Services Gateway

In this article we are going to install the Terminal Services role in windows server 2008.

Prerequisites

1. Terminal service role must not be installed on domain controllers. This could pose a security risk as you have to allow users to log on to domain controller using the “Log on Through Terminal Services” right in group policy.

2. Each user or computer which are connecting to terminal server must be having Terminal Service client access License (TS CAL).

3. Terminal Services must be installed before you install any programs that you want to make visible to users.

4. You must make sure that terminal server must be able to connect to TS Licensing server.

5. You have an option to enhance the Terminal service security by asking clients for Network Level Authentication.

6. The remote desktop users group is used to give permission to users to access Terminal Server. Thus add only the users to whom you want to have access to Terminal services.

7. Membership in local Administrators group is required to install Terminal service Role. Read more…
